Truthfully, vulnerability doesn’t mean having a completely open wound all day every day; it means selecting certain moments to reveal a bit more of yourself. 😉

For instance, if you are in an international relationship with a lady who has a very attractive co-worker and you think that guy might be flirting with your girlfriend, you should be honest about how you feel by saying, “The fact that he works with you makes me feel concerned because it seems that he is flirting with you.” You have to say it in a relaxed manner. Don’t make the situation look too serious. If you make it too serious, your girlfriend will avoid talking about that topic with you entirely in the future, which is not good for your relationship. Also, you shouldn’t keep talking about this with your girlfriend repeatedly. As long as she hasn’t done anything wrong, you only need to tell her how you feel once, thereby making her aware of what’s happening. When you are able to have a candid conversation like that, your girlfriend would think, “Wow. He is confident enough to tell me that!”

When you are truly honest about your fears, feelings, pain, weaknesses, and quirks, your vulnerability adds to the richness of your character. In other words, your vulnerability makes you much more interesting. 

Note that vulnerability only becomes a weakness if you dwell on a problem. It’s amazing to share who you really are as a person with your girlfriend, yet you have to remember that there is a major difference between sharing things with her and making her responsible for solving your issues. Your girlfriend is here to work with you. She is not here to work for you. And if she needs your help, you are supposed to work with her, but you don’t need to work for her.
