If you are ready to begin your online dating journey, the first thing that you need to do is to choose the best dating profile picture that you have. Today I’m going to share with you my top tips in this regard — Take notes! ?
Use your smartphone to take your own photos.
These days most smartphones include a self-timer. This is how it works:
- Put your smartphone on a flat and stable surface.
- Set the timer.
- Step back and smile at the smartphone’s camera. ?
With this self-timer function, you don’t need a mirror selfie! Mirror selfies are the worst kind of dating profile picture because they are so boring!
Your dating profile picture should be all about you.
Solo shots are the best because your potential matches want to know what you look like. If your photos include other people, it’s harder for your potential matches to figure out which person is you.
I know it’s tempting to show that you are very social and have great friends, but if your friends look more attractive than you in the photos, your dating profile photos wouldn’t work for you. Sad but true!
Your profile photo should indicate your lifestyle.
You would be well-advised to show your hobbies in your profile photos, e.g., traveling, hiking, etc. Therefore, you may have multiple photos that can demonstrate the fact that you are a multi-dimensional guy with a very interesting lifestyle.
That being said, you must show your appearance clearly, which means you need at least 1 clear photo in which potential matches are able to see your face and eyes clearly. Hence, please don’t wear sunglasses and hats!
Use current photos.
A while ago, I attended a job interview at a dance school. Because I showed the employer my portfolio from 20 years ago, they asked me “How old are you?” at the end of the job interview.
Although I can still dance and definitely can teach dance classes, I look very different from my portfolio photos, so I wasn’t hired by the dance school.
Moral of the story: We have to keep it current!
If you are joining an online dating site, please make sure that all your pictures are real and current – they should be within the last year. Don’t use the filters because your photo has to show the real you. Never underestimate the power of authenticity!
Your photos need to be consistent.
Here is the uncomfortable truth: If you look dramatically different in one of your photos on a dating site, that may look like a red flag because a genuine candidate probably wouldn’t upload the wrong photo.
In other words, consistency implies authenticity! And authenticity is what your future partner is looking for. For more thoughtful dating advice like this to help you on your online dating and international dating journey, sign up with Ukraine Brides Agency!
