I was lucky enough to celebrate Ukraine Independence Day on August 24th in Kiev, along with many many thousands of patriotic and passionate Ukraine people.
Packed into Independence Square, we watched the military parades, the Presidents speech and the celebrations. It was a sea of blue and yellow.
It is 24 years since Ukraine gained independence from the former Soviet Union, but, as the President said in his speech, the fight continues – a direct comment on the situation with the insurgents in the East.
It was a very moving and emotional day and was wonderful to experience. There are photos from the day at http://www.ukrainebridesagency.com/blog/august-24th-independence-day-in-ukraine/
