American author Tosha Silver once said, “No matter what you would like to achieve, the first step is always to surrender to the divine.” It might not seem very believable that spiritual surrender could bring about a change in dating and relationships.
In fact, when I was younger, I didn’t believe this. I believed I was able to change my destiny completely and outsmart the divine. Nevertheless, I now understand that there is a difference between changing my destiny and allowing my life to unfold. Changing my destiny means working on myself to change my life. Allowing my life to unfold means working with a destiny so that serendipity and acceptance, can both happen naturally.
In other words, I still work hard to improve my circumstances! But I also believe that letting go of the need to fix things and control everything will set me on a path of ultimate healing and infinite hope while I prepare for the next stage of my journey. This includes my experiences in dating and relationships too. So when I stop resisting the divine, I feel more relaxed!
Today I’m going to share with you some of my close friends’ true stories so that you will have a better understanding of how this theory works and how it can also work for you in your own dating and relationships!
Shirley’s Story Of Dating And Relationships:
When Shirley was young, she was a typical rough diamond. She worked extremely hard to transform her life and circumstances in her 20s. When she was 25 years old, she got married to a man who was divorced and had a daughter. After years of pain, that was the only real relationship that she had ever had. Yet that marriage didn’t work out, so they got divorced within 3 years. Shirley became single again. This time, she spent nine years single, and working on herself. Because of the pandemic, she was unable to go out on dates for several years. Now, after years of self-care and self-love, she has met the one. As I’m typing this story right now, Shirley is engaged.
Shirley accidentally discovered Tosha Silver’s books in 2018, so she learned the hidden power of surrender, which alleviated the pain and stress caused by the lack of dating and relationships in her life at that time. She says Tosha Silver’s work also helped her overcome the difficulty during COVID-19 when she was unable to meet anyone new for a few years.
“9 years is a very long time,” says Shirley, “I spent such a long time learning communication skills, gender psychology, human dynamics, and even dating techniques to improve myself. At last, I’ve found a great guy and started a new and happy relationship.”
Mel’s Story
When Mel was 41 years old, she met a young man who was significantly younger than her. At that time, they were working in hospitality. Unfortunately, Mel was made redundant in 2020 due to the pandemic, so she was waitressing in a restaurant. The young man was a university student who was working as a waiter for the time being. As Mel is very well-educated and had a high-profile job previously, she is very well-spoken. That’s how the young man noticed Mel’s intelligence immediately. However, this young man is gay, and he told her all his challenges in life due to his homosexuality, so they became very good friends.
Although Mel is straight, she is attracted to him. Half a year later, the young man graduated from university, so he found a new and much better job (something that he studied for) and left that restaurant. Mel felt very lonely – it seems that the young man didn’t contact her very often after he left. Further examination reveals that Mel is lonely because she lost a good job that she studied for due to COVID-19, she is single and straight, and she doesn’t have family and friends because of her unique and lonely circumstances in that city; that young man isn’t entirely miserable because he has family and friends, he has an exciting new career, and he is gay (he doesn’t have feelings for Mel).
How things turned around
“I was a bit depressed at that time because I had a high-profile job, but now I’m a waitress,” says Mel. “He has started a new career that pays him very well. Now our gap is beyond the age gap. But after thinking about that for a while, I realised that I don’t really need to have a wildly successful career anymore because I already had a glamorous past. I don’t have children or anyone who actually depends on me. Nobody will inherit my wealth in the future. But he might have children via surrogacy, or his sister’s son can inherit his wealth in the future. We have very different circumstances. In fact, everyone’s life is painful. Everyone has their own issues to deal with. The divine has a different plan for everyone.”
Now Mel has surrendered to the divine. Recently, she started dating a very good guy from her age group. She says dating and relationships are part of the divine plan as well. Interestingly, this month she became the manager of that restaurant. All of these happened after she stopped resisting destiny’s plan.
