Question: I’ve met an Eastern European lady who is a foreign language teacher here. We have some mutual friends. Our mutual friend Lily introduced this Eastern European woman (Ana) to me as my foreign language tutor. Because Ana knows I like her, we are very awkward whenever we see each other. How can I make her mine?

My answer to his question:

The real reason why both of you are awkward around each other is that you feel unsure, uncertain and nervous whenever you see her. At this point, it doesn’t matter whether she feels the same way about you or not; what really matters is how you respond to her behavior or attitude. By this, I mean that when you change your behavior or attitude, she has to change hers as well because communication is a two-way street and actually dynamics.

Relax and be confident whenever you meet her. Your confidence will help her calm down as well!

How to feel, and be more confident

Internal confidence

Firstly, you can start by working on your fashion and grooming because external confidence directly influences how you feel, thereby influencing your internal confidence. Consider reading GQ magazine or a similar fashion magazine and find a role model that you would like to imitate, and then copy that person’s style directly. Whenever you see Ana again, be sure to dress well and look absolutely confident. Look good, feel good!

Lifestyle confidence

Secondly, you will benefit from improving your lifestyle confidence, which means your interaction with Ana shouldn’t be limited to foreign language lessons only!

Avoid using these lessons as an excuse to get closer to her. Instead, showcase your amazing lifestyle in a way that piques her interest in being a part of your life. One way to do this is by arranging a social scenario where you and Ana can meet again. Consider asking Lily to invite both of you to a Happy Hour, and make sure you are a great conversationalist during the interaction.

After 30 minutes, let Lily leave early so you and Ana can continue your fun conversation. However, don’t overstay your welcome and end the party at its peak, ideally within 30 minutes of Lily leaving, by telling a great joke or anecdote and then excusing yourself. Remember not to focus too much on foreign language lessons during conversations; instead, talk about other interesting aspects of your life. By doing so, Ana will be more drawn to you and want to be a part of your life.

Thirdly, no matter what, your core confidence has to be solid, meaning you are a high-value guy with or without Ana in your life. You must strongly believe this fact.

4.
