1. Be comfortable with yourself first

If you want to find the right relationship, you need to start by being comfortable with yourself. This is the very first step to be successful in a relationship. Ask yourself if you would live with you? This is how you can also determine if another person will be happy and comfortable to spend their lives with you. It does not mean that you have to be perfect and flawless. It only means that you are comfortable with yourself and you have accepted your imperfections. It is important that you know the things that you want value and believe in when it comes to a romantic relationship.

2. Use the lessons you’ve learned from your past relationships

Failed relationships don’t mean that they were failures. They are a part of the learning process so you can better understand what you need, value and want. If your previous relationships did not work, it only means that there are still certain things you need to learn and things you need to change in yourself to become a better partner for your future boyfriend or girlfriend, or even spouse. Use these lessons and apply them so that you can attract the right person and the right relationship.

3. Accept that the only person you can change is you

One of the biggest mistakes some people make in their relationships is that they are trying to change their partners. This will only result in disappointment and frustration because your partner can’t be the way you want them to be. 4. Never settle

You don’t want to settle for something that you think you don’t deserve. If you want to find the qualities in a person such as being understanding, loving, caring and respectful, and they only have two out of those four, you shouldn’t just settle for that. If you do, you may end up being miserable in the relationship.

5. Don’t expect too much

Today, most people tend to expect everything they want from a person and a relationship. This makes it difficult for them to end up with the right one. While you don’t want to settle for less, you should not have overly, high expectations from someone. Remember that you are looking for a human being who is imperfect and who is also capable of making mistakes. You don’t need to endure and tolerate bad behaviors but it does not mean that you need to look for a perfect being. We are all flawed in many ways. You just need to determine what matters to you, your negotiables, as well as non-negotiables in a relationship.
